Expect God To Do It

This has been an exciting year! We have seen the hand of the LORD at work in our lives, experiencing His love, peace and blessings. God has taken the good, bad and ugly, and put it all in the mix to work out for the good. Now, a new year is on the horizon. What will come of this year? What new journey will be embarked upon? What kind of growth will be experienced this year? The new year always presents itself with these questions and many others, building hope that the new year will be better than the last. This is a good thing because God wants His children to have hope. The Bible declares in Romans 5:5, "Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." That's the New King James Translation. The first part of that verse in the King James Version says, "And hope maketh not ashamed..." Both translations use the word "hope." This is powerful because a simple definition of

Who Do You Think You Are?

The mind is a powerful thing. It is the place where ideas, creativity, dreams and visions are born. It is also the place within man that establishes the groundwork for everything that is done. If a person has a good outlook on life in the mind, there is nothing that can withhold them from bringing to life what they see before it is seen. Proverbs 23:7a says, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Now this verse uses the word "heart," but keep in mind that in scripture, heart and mind are synonymous. There are many defeated Christians out there because of the way that they think of themselves. They have allowed the enemy to infiltrate the mind, causing them to believe what he says instead of what the Lord has to say about them in the Bible. As a believer, your new life starts with 2 Corinthians 5:17. It says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." This is powerful, be

Confession is Good for the Soul

Catchy title right? It may kind of put you in the mind of bearing your soul to a priest, your parents, or someone you feel you have wronged and need to confess to. That's not the kind of confession I am speaking of. I am speaking of the kind of confession that will calm and quiet your soul (your mind, will and emotions) in the midst of any storm. The Bible says in Hebrews 10:23, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)." That word "profession" is the Greek word  homologĂa. It means,  "to agree, confess, say the same." In other words, it means to say the same thing that God says in His Word about any and every situation that you may be faced with. With that in mind, you can see how confession is good for the soul. The mind, will and emotions of man naturally wants to go against God. The soul wants to panic when there seems to be no way out.  In order to get it to line up with God, you have t

Finish Strong

Finish Strong Another year is coming to a close, and I believe the Lord wants me to encourage your hearts to finish strong. I believe He is saying this because, unlike a sprint, He knows your journey with Him is more like a marathon. Many are at the close or end of other situations and the end seems to be in the distant future. However, just like we can see the end of the year, the Lord sees the end of your situation and He is telling you to finish strong. Here are five things you can meditate on to finish strong for the last thirty-one days of the year. Obey the command to be strong in The Lord and the power of His might. He gave this commandment because He knew you would need strength to fight spiritual battles. (Ephesians 6:13) Be aware of the conflict that the devil is sending your way to get you to doubt God. He doesn't want you to finish let alone finish strong. He wants you to quit. He wants you to disobey the command. (1 Peter 5:8-9) This is when to counterattack

Stay Focused

I'm not a football person but my husband is. Every now and then I will watch a game with him. Sometimes I ask questions and from that I understand the logistics of the game. One of the things I understand is that when a team close to the end zone, about to make a touch down, the defense tightens up. The opposing team does all it can to keep its opponent from scoring. 1 Peter 4:7 says, "But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." The enemy, our opponent, knows the end is near. He also knows when you are in faith and the end of what you are believing for is near. So, what does he do? He tightens up his defense because he doesn't want you to score! He doesn't want you to believe that God is going to come through. He is doing everything he can to get you to either stop praying or not pray at all. When this happens, you must make a decision to Stay Focused. Recognize that the enemy is trying to distract you and get your focu

Weapons and Waves

I do love sitting on the beach. It is a very relaxing place and God tends to speak to my when I am there. This time was no different. As I was sitting there watching the water come in and go out, I was reminded of Isaiah 54:17 which says, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord." Here is another verse that came to mind Proverbs 8:29 "When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:." These two verses speak of weapons and waters or shall we say weapons and waves. In this life as we all know, we have a very real enemy who fights against us. He doesn't play fair and is out to kill, steal and destroy. This is why it is imperative to know what the Word of God says so that we can use it against h

Water And The Word

Years ago when I was in a college biology class, I will never forget the resounding words of the professor. He said, "H2O, it's good stuff." I don't remember anything else about the lesson, but I do recall him teaching us that water is good for the human body. Several years later, at a women's conference in Texas, One of the speakers wrote a book entitled, Drink Water and Live. In this book, as well as in the message, she spoke of the vital importance of drinking water. Studies have shown that filling up on water suppresses the appetite. That word "suppress" means to forcibly put an end to. In other words, filling up on water kills the appetite to eat. In the same way, if a Christian would fill up on the Word of God it would suppress or forcibly put and end to the desire to sin. Filling up on the Word of God will suppress the soul to sin. When a person is having sin issues in their life, it is evident that they are not spending adequate time in the Wor
