Confession is Good for the Soul

Catchy title right? It may kind of put you in the mind of bearing your soul to a priest, your parents, or someone you feel you have wronged and need to confess to. That's not the kind of confession I am speaking of. I am speaking of the kind of confession that will calm and quiet your soul (your mind, will and emotions) in the midst of any storm.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10:23, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)." That word "profession" is the Greek word homologĂa. It means,  "to agree, confess, say the same." In other words, it means to say the same thing that God says in His Word about any and every situation that you may be faced with.

With that in mind, you can see how confession is good for the soul. The mind, will and emotions of man naturally wants to go against God. The soul wants to panic when there seems to be no way out.  In order to get it to line up with God, you have to speak the same thing that God speaks. You have to speak His language.

The awesome thing about this is that God tells us what His language is in the Bible. His Word is filled with what He is listening for to calm and quiet the soul. His Word says things like, nothing is too hard for God. He is a refuge and strength and ever present help in trouble. He will perfect that which concerns you. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that you may ask or think. The steadfast mind He will keep in perfect peace. Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.

These are just a few verses, but there are so many more! What you have to do is to look up all the ones that pertain to your situation and begin confess or say the same thing that God is saying, about it. When you do this, it will be good for the soul. Your confession will quiet your soul and strengthen your spirit so that you will be led by your spirit and not your soul.

We are living in the last days and the end of all things is near. The time is now to teach and train the soul to speak the Word only. The time is now teach and train the soul to confess the Word of God on a daily basis to fill the heart and mind with what the Lord has to say about any and every situation. The time is now for daily confessions, not to a priest, but to yourself, out loud so that your soul will know that God is in control.

So, as you can see, confession IS good for the soul. Therefore, hold fast to saying what God says in His word, without wavering. He who promised is faithful and He WILL bring it to pass.

Love, peace and blessings,

Dr. Sheila
