Who Do You Think You Are?

The mind is a powerful thing. It is the place where ideas, creativity, dreams and visions are born. It is also the place within man that establishes the groundwork for everything that is done. If a person has a good outlook on life in the mind, there is nothing that can withhold them from bringing to life what they see before it is seen.

Proverbs 23:7a says, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Now this verse uses the word "heart," but keep in mind that in scripture, heart and mind are synonymous. There are many defeated Christians out there because of the way that they think of themselves. They have allowed the enemy to infiltrate the mind, causing them to believe what he says instead of what the Lord has to say about them in the Bible.

As a believer, your new life starts with 2 Corinthians 5:17. It says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." This is powerful, because it is stating that everything about the old life is now dead. If you can get this revelation, the enemy has no chance to buffet you in your thought life. For, once this scripture is in your heart, the mind has to line up and live out the new life in Christ.

The enemy knows this to some degree, which is why he works overtime, even double time to keep believers in bondage. Therefore, since you know he knows this, it is up to you to take time out each day to memorize scripture. By doing this, you get it in your heart so that it will transform your mind to think in line with what God thinks about you.

With that in mind, take a look at these questions. Are you in bondage in your mind? Do you have a low self-esteem? Do you wonder whether God is going to do it for you? Who do you think you are? Do you think you are a bum and will never amount to anything? Do you think that you will always struggle with finances, friendships and family? Well, let me ask you this. Are you willing to do what it takes to transform your mind?

Now, don't just run through those questions without honestly answering them. Especially the final question. You must be willing to do whatever it takes to win the war waging in the mind. Yes, I know the war is waging, but I also know that the war can be won if you fill up on God's Word. It is the solution to a low thought life. As you read, rehearse and recite it, your head and heart will be in line with the wonderful person that God has created you to be.

So, who do you think you are? Start with saying, I am a new creation in Christ. I am more than a conqueror. I am forgiven. I am blessed. I am free. Then, after you have disciplined yourself to say the same thing that God says about you in His Word, others will see it too. Now everyone you come in contact with will see just who you think you are and in turn, you will be able to turn them to the One who turned your thinking around.

Love, peace and blessings,

Dr. Sheila
