Breakthrough Is On The Way


What a title! I know you are encouraged already, especially if you have had a run of challenging things happening in your life. Your heart rate has increased and you have received an answer to your, "When will all this be over?" questions. Well, before you get too excited, you should continue reading. Breakthrough is on the way, but not as you suppose.

The backdrop for this teaching is found in 2 Chronicles 20. A great multitude had come against Jehoshaphat. As a result, the Bible says in verses two and three, "And Jehoshaphat feared, and set -- himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek -- the Lord."

There are situations, seasons and circumstances that come up against every believer that sometimes causes fear to rise up. Depending on the depth of the relationship with the Lord, some Christians don't seek the Lord like Jehoshaphat did (Not you of course!). They sit, soak and sour enlisting the company of all to join their pity party. This is not the best course of action. This is not the route to breakthrough.

As a result of Jehoshaphat seeking the Lord, this is what happened.

And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation; And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find -- them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. (2 Chronicles 20:13-16)

Ok, so here is where the revelation comes! Jehoshaphat sought the Lord because of what had come against him and God answered. He said, "Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go ye down against them..." As a result of seeking, Jehoshaphat received instructions to go. He went, they sent the praisers out in front, and God caused his enemies to route themselves.

There were three components to their breakthrough. First when afraid, Jehoshaphat sought the Lord. Second, he received instruction from the Lord and to go. Third as a result of their obedience to the word of the Lord, God caused the enemy route themselves. This is so profound because, if you notice, breakthrough did not come to them. They received breakthrough "on the way" to battle!

Did you get it? Breakthrough will never come to you as you sit around feeling sorry for yourself. Breakthrough will not come from your whining, fussing and complaining. No! Breakthrough will come on your way to the battlefield that God has prepared for you on the way. What way? The road "on the way" to your destiny.

I pray that this teaching will cause you to get up, gird up and get ready to go into battle. There is no need to be afraid in this fight for the battle is not yours but God's. Just stand, go and see the salvation of the Lord because remember, your breakthrough is not coming to you. It is "on the way" to the battlefield that God has preordained for you to overtake, overthrow and overcome.

Expect God To Do It

This has been an exciting year! We have seen the hand of the LORD at work in our lives, experiencing His love, peace and blessings. God has taken the good, bad and ugly, and put it all in the mix to work out for the good. Now, a new year is on the horizon. What will come of this year? What new journey will be embarked upon?
