True Absolute

Absolute. That word means not qualified or diminished in any way; complete. There are words that are typically used that are absolutes and they carry the full weight of their meaning. For example if someone says, "They never pay their bills on time." That means that whenever bills come for this individual, they are paid beyond the due date. Now if this person pays once or twice before time, then it no longer falls in the "never" category.

Here is another one. "Everyone in my class is talking about me." Well, that would mean that all the people in that class are talking about this individual. However, if the teacher is not talking about this person, then it is no longer everyone. Typically when I am presented with a statement like this, I ask, "Who is everyone?" The response is usually only one or two people.

This is important because most of the time when people use absolutes, they are not fully true. Always, everybody and never usually mean sometimes, and some people. This makes those absolutes not true. It is merely the persons perception of the situation that is making them use these terms.

However, there is a time when you see these absolutes that you can take to the bank and cash out for a return. Let's look at a few of them.

Hebrews 13:5 tells us that God will never fail or forsake us. Matthew 28:20 says, "...lo I am with you always." In these two verses the words "never" and "always" are used in reference to God. What these verses are teaching is that there is no situation or circumstance that a child of God will ever be in that God won't be with him. Friends and family may fail or forsake you, and even your parents cannot always be with you, but God will never fail or forsake you and will will always be with you. These are true absolutes!

The Bible also says in Isaiah 49:15-16, "“Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me. The two key phrases in this passage are "yet I will not forget," and "continually before Me." Not and continually mean never and always! Here you have two more absolutes!

God is the True Absolute and the revelation of this truth is a powerful weapon against the enemy. When you know, that you know, that you know, that you know, that God is ALWAYS with you and will NEVER fail you, you can boldly declare, "The LORD is my helper I will not be afraid! He is ALWAYS with me and will never fail me!"

As you go throughout your day and week, meditate and muse over these verses letting them marinate in your mind. God is the True Absolute and nothing is to hard for Him. He is always with you and will never fail or forsake you. He is more that able to do exceedingly, abundantly, far above all that you ask or think!

Love, peace and blessings,

Dr. Sheila
