Weapons and Waves

I do love sitting on the beach. It is a very relaxing place and God tends to speak to my when I am there. This time was no different. As I was sitting there watching the water come in and go out, I was reminded of Isaiah 54:17 which says, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord." Here is another verse that came to mind Proverbs 8:29 "When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:."

These two verses speak of weapons and waters or shall we say weapons and waves. In this life as we all know, we have a very real enemy who fights against us. He doesn't play fair and is out to kill, steal and destroy. This is why it is imperative to know what the Word of God says so that we can use it against him and his weapons. The weapons that he uses against us come in many forms; lack, sickness, a failed marriage, wayward children, depression, discontentment and the like. BUT, the above verse says though they come, they SHALL NOT prosper.

It is important to remind ourselves of this powerful truth because the enemy uses the weapons to get you, to get me, to get us a believers, to doubt the veracity of God's Word. This is where the waves come in. Think of an ocean and how that massive body of water only rolls up on the shores of a sandy beach so far and then, as if it were on some kind of invisible force, it automatically rolls back upon itself. It's just like the Scripture says, ..."the waters should not pass His commandment." God set it up so that the ocean would not flood the sea and in the same way, He set it up so that the weapons CANNOT overtake the life of a believer.

Now think of this ocean in terms of the weapons or warfare that you may be facing, with Isaiah 54:17 in mind. Just like the waves come up on a seashore, so do the weapons come up on your life. Oh, but God will not allow them to prosper! Oh, but God will only allow them to go so far! Oh, BUT GOD, who is an ever present help in trouble, He will not allow the weapons to overtake you! The weapons CANNOT prosper against you. God set it up that way!

This is such an incredible analogy because it give a poignant, powerful picture of our great and mighty God. We serve the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God. He is more than able to do exceedingly, abundantly, far above all we ask or think. He is the Great I Am and nothing is too hard for Him. When the enemy comes in like a flood, Jehovah Nissi our Great Commander in Chief lifts up the standard against him.

So, the next time you are faced with some warfare, remember, just like the waves on a seashore, the weapons can only come so far. They will not overtake you. Just speak the Word only and watch the weapons roll back away from you, just like the waves roll back off of the seashore and back into the ocean.

Love, peace and blessings,

Dr. Sheila
